All students are requested to have their names clearly marked on backpacks, lunch boxes, clothing, especially winter items such as mittens, boots and snow pants.

Agenda
|
 |
Agendas will be sold to students to use for homework, notes to parents, school notices and reminders. They should bring it home everyday and return it to school. All students have a yellow homework folder.

Snacks
|
 |
We will have snack time each morning around 10:45 AM. Parents are encouraged to send a nutritious snack. This should not replace a good breakfast. |

| Newsletter |
 |
A class newsletter will be sent home each month.
|
| |
|
| Homework |
 |
Homework will be assigned each night Monday through Thursday.At times I will send home a long term assignment. Students learn responsibility by completing their work independently.

|
| Birthdays |
 |
Birthdays are important to the children at Birch Grove School. The students will not be allowed to bring cupcakes and other food to school on their birthdays. However, we would like to recognize your child's special day and each classroom teacher has other ways to celebrate this day.

| Book Club |
 |
Monthly Scholastic Book Club Orders will be sent home. Many reasonable, appropriate leveled books are offered. Delivery is usually two weeks after ordering deadline. Please read the note sent home for this routine. You will be writing only one check to the book club. You can also order them on line. |

| Reading at Home |
 |
Parents and students are encouraged to participate in Reading At Home. Second graders are capable of reading a great many books, and also enjoy being read to. |

|
| Field Trips |
 |
A separate letter will be sent home regarding field trips. The approximate cost of field trips for the year will be $30. |
| |
|
| Supplies |
 |
Students will be given a supply list at the end of first grade. They are responsible for replenishing the supplies during the year.
