Homework is used to reinforce skills that are taught in class. Homework may include a book from their reading group and/or math work. Once reading groups begin, a reading log is included in your child's Homework Folder. Parents are asked to sign the reading log and write a comment if necessary.
Weekly homework should take approximately 10-15 minutes per night.
Depending on parent volunteers, every week students are tested on their high frequency word lists. I have about 28 different word lists. Students go at their own pace and are required to read each word on their list before moving on to the next one. It is not unusual for a student to spend more than one week on a list.
Later in the year, students are given a Math Minute assessment to help strengthen their math facts
