The chart above shows our music learning objectives. Music class is focused on being active music makers -- we sing, play instruments, dance, play games, move to the beat, and work together during class. We use these active experiences to explore our music objectives in many different ways.
The philosophy of our music program:
1. Early childhood music can be thought of as the "roots" of the tree. Strengthening skills like the ability to keep a steady beat and use their singing voice will help our children grow into confident musicians.
2. We aim to create children who will sing songs on the playground, on the bus, at home, in the car, with friends, by themselves, or with their families. We hope they grow into adults who will sing lullabies to their children.
3. There is something for everyone in music. Children of every learning level can find something they can do, and do well, in music class. We work to develop those strengths and give children something they can feel good about inside.
