| Supplies |

See the K website for the list of supplies needed. Please send a backpack that is large enough to hold a folder each day. An Art smock clearly labeled with your child's name is also needed.

| Homework |
|
Students should work on Kindergarten skills for 10 minutes twice a week. Homework includes practicing math facts, practicing reading and writing sight words, and reading book bags as they come home. Occasionally, written homework and special projects will be sent home. Look in the weekly newsletter for reminders and ideas. Each child will be given a Homework folder. Please check the folder nightly, remove all papers, and send all notes/papers back to school in it. |

| Reading At Home |
|
Look for our class books that come home. Please read these books with your child over 1-2 nights and return them. Don't forget to read to and with your child nightly! |

| Book Clubs |
|
Book club orders will go home monthly. If you choose to order books, please make checks out directly to the book company. You may also order books directly online. |

|
| Snack |
|
Snack is only 15 minutes of our day. Please make sure your child has a small, healthy snack and drink that they can finish in that amount of time. |

|
| Birthdays |
|
Birthdays are important to the children at Birch Grove School. We would like to recognize your child's special day. Students are not allowed to bring cupcakes and other food to school on their birthdays. Some alternatives are a special book to share, stickers, pencils, a special show and tell, or a favorite song on CD.

| Parent volunteers |
|
I invite all parents to come into the classroom. We have a schedule of parent helpers that go home once a month. You can also help from home in many ways. |
